The best biology teacher I have ever had! She does a great job of helping
you
undersand biology. She is really good at giving you real world examples
human biology.

 I just finished Barker's Bio 12 lecture class.  I think its great.  She
makes everything really interesting and current. This was sure a change
from Dr. Derrick R Lavoie. I took his lecture class boring, boring, boring
and a bad teacher too. Try to take Barker for Bio 12

She teaches biology in a way that normal people will actually understand.
Mrs. Barker gives us the technical term for things and then teaches us
concepts using normal English terms. She is a great teacher and a nice lady
as well. I'm takingthe bio 12 lab spring semester just because she's
teaching it.

I do not like labs but this one is different. Debbie has an incredible
amount of patience and is able to break things down in a ways that are
easily understood.  Also a very nice person. 

She really cares and wants everyone to do well. This is a fun class.

Professor Barker's class is excellent. Shekeep our
interest and really gets you to think about biology

She is a really good  teacher who will explain anything! She is very
approachable, friendly and helpful. 

Debbie is one of the most intuative, helpful people that i have ever known!

She is great at what he does. Debbie uses
real life examples to get the points across. I like her relaxed style. This
was my favorite class.

A hard subject for me. I have been out of school for 12 years. She is a
good teacher.  She tries to help you get a good grade, you just have to put
the effort to get it.  This is a challenging subject. Take this class with
Barker.
 

Out of all the years of attending Cuesta I have never had such a horrible
teacher. She was unorganized, boring and I never missed one assignment or
day and walked out with a C. I spent time in her office and was always made
to feel stupid for not understanding. Heaven forbid you ask a question in
class, wrong thing to do! In fact I think that is one thing she did not
like about me, who knows. If you must take her, do but know that she can be
very difficult. 

To unorganized and in a hurry. Assumes everyone understands the provided
material and has no desire to answer questions. 

Mrs. Barker has really helped me understand biology. Her style of teaching
makes me feel like it is okay to ask questions if you don't understand
something. She also makes it fun to be in her classroom. I would highly
recommend taking her for human biology. The human biology lab really helped
me.

 I struggleib science classes, but Debbie explained the material so that I
really understood it. The labs were a great experience. I especially liked
the DNA section at the end of the class. I fully recommend her.

When you look back on your college career, Barker is one of
the few teachers you're going to remember.  Her class doesn't just teach
you what you need to know, but, it may make you re-think your approach to
biology.

Professor Barker energetic and knows her subject. She is very excited about
what she teaches. She is very friendly during office hours. She is always
willing to help you understand the course material. I suggest you go class
every time - if you do, you will ace this class.

Barker is upfront with students. She knows how to relate to us and make a
difficult subject understandable. She uses models,props, and multilmedia
very well in class demonstrations. Her tests are very fair. She is very
enthusiastic about biology and she knows what she is doing.
This is one of the best science classes I have ever had. 

Debbie Barker isn't a bad teacher but she isn't a really good one either. 
Her lectures are really long and boring.  When students ask questions or
answer questions wrong in class she makes them feel stupid for even trying.
 So eventually no one participated or asked questions.  She is also big on
memorization! She makes you memorize all kinds of stuff.  But if you attend
class and do all your homework it isn't too hard to get an A.  If you
decide to take her be prepared for long notes and study guides :) Good Luck
