I really enjoyed this class, even though the lectures can go off in a
tangent very easily and she often doubts that the students are doing the
readings (but who could blame her?). Her tests are easy, since she gives
out a study guide with fifty points on it that translate into a question
for each. As long as you complete your study guide and do the very easy
homework, this class is not hard. The case analysis assignment requires a
full reading of supreme court documents, which I can understand to be
difficult for some, but the assignment has made me seriously consider a
profession in the legal spectrum. She is a very cool person though and
quite enthusiastic (sometimes even yelling, possibly because she is deaf in
one ear). She also has a soft heart for excuses of late HW/Projects, so if
you are a procastinator like me, this is the class for you. |

l love Ruth Biering classes, she is a wonderful teacher and very wise in
her legal experience. I would take her classes over any other instructors,
she explains thing and put a real life spin on every lesson. Her lessons
and lectures are always extreamly helpful with the assignments. A wish she
could teach every class I had to take. Keep up the good work you're an
excellant educator! |

She knows her stuff, but she sure could use a class herself on teaching
styles. Her lectures are boring, boring, boring, boring. The material in
this class is hard, but she makes it better, especially when she has study
sessions outside of class where she almost give you the answers to each
test question. She's not bad, but I wouldn't recommend her classes. |

She's really really nice, and knows a hella lot about the law. Great if
you're thinking about law for a career, as she will give a frank and
realistic perspective on the field. The classes consist totally of
lecture, so they can drag a little bit, but if you can pay attention she
gives lots of examples and illustrations to make the legalese a little more
tangible. Tests are fairly easy as long as you study. She is passionate
and enthusiastic, and this helps the somewhat bland material go down alot
smoother. Overall I would highly recommend her. |

Pretty good teacher. Knows what she is talking about. Needs student input
to fully relate but i learned soo much in her class regarding law that i
felt ot was well worth it. Gives many handouts/packets that are weel worth
keeping. |

Ruth Biering is a great teacher. I love her classes and get a lot from
them. Her background is in law, contract attorney I think, which is great.
She holds herself with a certain dignity- superiority even, and speaks with
nasally Los Angeles "snobbish" which is pretty cool. My only caveat is her
occasional vocal criticsm of the class when nobody knows the answer to one
of her hypotheticals. "Come on class, it's not easy being the cheerleader
up here day in and day out. Give me some input. I'm getting tired of all
these cow-eyed stares." It's actually quite hilarious. Take Biering, she is
very knowledgable, not very tough at grading, and a generally great
teacher. |

Great teacher. The tests are easy if you follow the study guide she gives
for each one. The papers are straightfoward, and all of the info you need
to write them is in the book.
She kind of rubbed people the wrong way and lost the majority of the class
by the end of the semester, but she's not there to make friends, she's
there to teach.
Overall, she earned an A. |

Ruth Biering loves the law! If you are taking her class because you want a
career in the legal field and you are interested in the law, you will enjoy
her class. If you are taking the class because of a requirement, you will
be bored to tears. The lectures are long and if you are not interested in
the subject, they could seem to go on forever. But, if you enjoy the law,
you will find her antidotes and insight into cases interesting and often
humorous. Anyone, if they listen hard enough will find practical lessons
that can be very useful in life situations. As was stated in her class the
first day; "Knowledge of the Law is Power!" I did find a small problem
with the fact that in the middle of a lecture, from time to time, she will
dress down the class for not participating but there really isn't a break
in the lecture, often, or an invitation to "join in" by the asking of
questions. We can be unsure of when comment is wanted. If you fail this
class, it will not be because of the Instructor (she goes out of her way to
give you every clue as to what is important for you to know and has, not
only study guides, but study sessions where she comes as close as she can
to giving you the answer.) Last, but not least, she truly knows her stuff! |
