Great teacher, very knowledgeable. Will make geology very interesting, and
he's very excited about the subject. Can be a little short with students
sometimes, but he tries to get the concepts across. Good guy. |

Bauer is awesome. There is NO (yes NO) homework or Tests. The only thing
he grades you on is Weekly tests. It is an interesting class to take, but
the lecture can be a little boring sometimes. |

Bauer is a really great guy. Has a good sense of humor and is truly
passionate about his job and the material. This class is no pushover
though, so don't take it if you want to just cruise through. The tests
DEMAND that you study THOROUGHLY. They aren't unfair, because everything
on the tests was covered in the lecture, but it's very specific, so you
must take good notes. Also, he isn't tremendously entertaining, so if
you're taking a morning class bring some coffee. Overall though a superb
teacher. Highly recommended. |

I have taken many classes at Cuesta and Bauer gave me my only "C" grade. I
have a 3.8 GPA and this is the only class that I struggled in. Stuggled
because while the material is interesting it's horribly dry and mono-toned
I found myself actually nodding off during his lecture. He would spend lots
of time on a topic, only to find he's testing on a topic that we barely
skimmed over, making it confusing as to what to study for the tests. I was
3 points away from a "B" grade but he would not consider changing although
I had perfect attendance. I dont know what other teachers are available for
this class, but I would consider looking elsewhere. |

Horrible if you want a good grade. Lectures are disorganized, test
quesions hard to keep track of. Other than that all around enjoyable exp. |

Excellent teacher. Knows more about geology and other sciences than you
could ever imagine, and even better, is very good at delivering the
information. You'll learn more from this teacher than most others you will
ever have. |

HORRIBLE CLASS! I stufied for hours for the test and did awful. I hated

uninvolved--interesting lecture however;tests very unfair-- test questions
come out of nowhere |

Bauer is a cool guy. He has cheesy awesome jokes. His grading scale is
unique and is beneficial to the student. You can learn if you go to class.
Take good notes. Not very many tests and quizzes. This class is a lecture
based class, I reccomend it for the student needing to fill that special
gap for science course. |

Even if you don't think you have any interest in geology, this is a great
course and if you pay attention in the lectures, you'll come out a smarter
person --whether you want to or not. This was actually the 2nd course I
took from Bauer and would recommend him completely. He has a dry sense of
humor ("Geology Rocks!") but is very straightforward and tests you on the
lectures (w/ very little from the text). He is NOT one of the instructors
that tests you on random quotes in the text just to be sure you read every
word. I can't even remember opening my text beyond the lab hours. |

he is an ok guy. I don't think he really liked our class becuase it was not
hands on. He is a horrible lecturer. It is one of the most boringly,
intolerable classes i've ever had in my life. I wake up from having
nightmares about rocks eating me and most of the class is asleep. I bet he
is a lot more interesting and enthusiasitc in his other classes that have a
lab. The tests are very hard. SO STUDY! |

Mr. Bauer is a cool guy and this class is not way exciting but he keeps it
interesting with his funny stories and the jokes. You will learn some cool
stuff about earthquakes and such with this class...I would take it again if
I had to. |

I have to agree with the second reviewer, study for the tests since the
multiple choice isn't a gimme. Geology is boring, this guy isn't all that
exciting either. It's your standard class: takes notes from the lecture,
pass rocks around to look at, take test, start again. |

I'm wasn't interested in Geology until I took this class, and that's
unusual for me. His corny jokes make the time pass by. |

This was the best class I have ever taken. Mr. Baeur is smart, interesting
and fair, just make sure you study for the exams! |

He made me a college student. He challenged me. He encouraged me. He
forced me to be better. I learned what it takes to succeed in college in
this class. Thanks Bauer. Max |

He's great, but don't take the class if you aren't going to study for the
tests. The essay parts are super easy but the multiple choice is pretty
hard. Overall he's fun. |

I have one word for this instructor...awesome. Mr. Baurer is an excellent
teacher. His lectures are clear, his tests and quizzes are
straightforward, and he has a great sense of humor. He is very
knowledgeable, and does not mind asking questions during his office hour,
which he keeps dilligently. If you have to take a geology class, take GEOL
12 (Geologic Hazards), and take it with Mr. Baurer. |
